Current Announcements for ACS

bullet star  User logon account names are changing for Fall!

Beginning Fall quarter all student user logon account names will be changed to your Student Identification number ( SID ).  All new accounts will be created using the users SID.  All existing accounts will be modified to change the current name, consisting of letters and numbers, to the users SID.  Since the name you use to access the Edmonds CC Blackboard portal is the same as the one you use to access computers located on campus, you will have to use the new SID name to logon to Blackboard as well.  There will be messages on the main Blackboard logon page letting you know when to use the new logon name.

In order to accomplish this change there will be a short period of time that Blackboard will not be available to any student users.

Remember, you will still be able to get to all your Edmonds CC related data by using the main campus web pages at http://www.edcc.edu, rolling the mouse over "College Resources" in the top banner, and clicking the link to "Student Personal Info".  For those that want to go directly to this page click this link, http://www.edcc.edu/studentinfo/ or enter the URL in your browsers location field.  On the 'studentinfo' page you will see direct links to all your campus resources like Fall Classes, print your schedule, link to Hope Scholarship, request an Official Transcript or see your Unofficial Transcript/Grades and much more.  You do not have to login to view this page but you will still have to provide appropriate login to view any of your personal and private information at each of the links that display your data.

 * Did you know that your EdCC computer account provides access to the EdCC student computers, EdCC student wireless network, and Blackboard?

 *  All ACS accounts have a printing LIMIT of 500 pages!
All users of the Academic Computer Services have a printing limit. The number of pages you can print is 500 per quarter. When you have printed your quota you will receive a message that you can not print any more.

We encourage you to be mindful of the environmental impact your printing has. Please do not print unnecessarily. Use the print preview feature from your software application to view the document format. Since printing documents from the World Wide Web is unpredictable we would recommend you cut the text of data you want to keep and paste it into a text document or Microsoft Word.

We also encourage you to keep data in its digital form and refer to it using your computer rather than printing.

If you reach your printing limit, please come to Alderwood Hall and ask for a lab assistant.

 *  Do you know what is actually legal when it comes to downloading copyrighted music and other media?  - EDUCAUSE and the American Council on education have created a website that provides information on what is legal and what is illegal when it comes to downloading media.  This website also provides information on copyright obligations and the legal risks associated with illegally downloading media.

 * Wireless network access is available for student use on campus.  If you would like to connect your personal laptop to the wireless network, please see the following page: Wireless Instructions.

 *  Click the Edmonds Community College logo in the upper left hand corner to reach the college homepage.
